Tuffley Avenue

The Podsmead side of Tuffley Avenue has some poor pavement surfaces and I have asked for these to be repaired.

Some have already been done but there are more to do.

There is also a hole where a tree has been removed, here at the Tuffley Avenue entrance to the Club at Tuffley Park.

Safe pavements are a priority for residents and I want Podsmead’s to be the best in Gloucester.

Tuffley Crescent Development

Gloucester City Homes held a consultation on the new development off Tuffley Crescent, Podsmead.

I was there to support the community and to listen to comments and concerns.

I have been in regular contact with residents and GCH over this development and will continue to act as a conduit between the two.

If residents have any questions do feel free to write to me at Sebastian.field@gloucester.gov.uk, or phone me on 07708345857.

Meeting with Gloucester City Homes directors

I met with the Chief Executive of Gloucester City Homes Ashley Green and their Director of Housing and Communities Anita Pope.

We discussed a range of issues affecting the city and especially Podsmead, including the proposed regeneration of Matson and Podsmead.

I also brought to their attention some concerns and comments, good and bad, from residents about GCH properties in the ward, and developments that are ongoing.

It was a positive and productive meeting and we are working on some exciting projects for Podsmead.

Supporting Gloucester City Mission

Gloucester City Mission do great work in helping the homeless in our city.

They were in Eastgate Shopping Centre recently raising funds and promoting their work. It is fantastic to know that Eastgate have nominated the City Mission as their charity of the year.

We have worked with GCM many times over the years and will be raising money for them at Christmas by singing carols.

Carmel Webb memorial garden

I have been approached over the last few months by many residents who wanted to see improvements to the Carmel Webb memorial garden on Scott Avenue.

The hedges and brambles were overgrown, which was not only untidy but also a security concern. There was also antisocial behaviour and littering in the garden.

I asked for the hedges and brambles to be cut back and this has now been done. The council have also installed a new litter bin at my request so this should hopefully reduce the littering problem – as long as people use the bin!

It is great to see this garden looking so good.

Scott Avenue tree

I am a big fan of trees ? ? but sometimes they grow over the footpath or block out the light for residents, and become a nuisance.

This tree overhanging the footpath at Scott Avenue was blocking the path, so I asked for it to be cut back and this was done very quickly.

I am taking action all across Podsmead.
