Milton Avenue site meeting

We had a site meeting at Milton Avenue with council officers, myself and Lisa Jevins (Podsmead Big Local lead).

We looked at the work that’s started on site with the European funding, and made lists of actions that we think can be achieved in the next few months and years.

These will include:

? replacing/upgrading the play equipment

⬆️ making pathways

? planting sympathetically to enhance the area

? removing the damaged bollards

? planting trees where possible

This will be an important project for Milton Avenue and I look forward to helping it to come to fruition.

    Hiya Seb,
    Hope that you’re keeping well.
I know it seems that I’m being negative all the time, but when I worked for the Podsmead Neighbourhood project 16 years ago, we redid that whole area, installed new play equipment etc , all the things you are redoing now.
Mostly it’ll be trashed again, as the local people have no respect for the place they live, check out the rubbish in Keats ave again, its much the same a.round Milton Ave.

      Thanks Debz,

A number of the improvements are to enhance the green space and also to improve the quality and accessibility of the equipment. I genuinely believe there is a great community spirit and people want to care for the area. That being said we continue to monitor the area and will try to prevent or respond to any vandalism. There has been a marked decrease in this recently. I’ve reported the fly-tipping at Keats. All best, Seb
