The bus shelter on Podsmead Road opposite the Crypt School has been damaged.

I have been in touch with county council officers and they have informed me it will be repaired on Friday 17th July.

I am glad that swift action is being taken.

Matson, Robinswood and White City Community Partnership and the Club at Tuffley Park are running The Holiday Kitchen from next week. It will be running from Monday to Friday in locations in Matson and Podsmead.

Families can have a free lunch and pick up craft materials for the holidays.

When you are out and about you may notice people wearing items with a sunflower on a green background.

I have reported this section of pavement for resurfacing after residents contacted me about the poor surface.

I have recently been dealing with other highways issues in Oakland’s Park, and also some trees that needed attention.

This electrical box on Cole Avenue had been damaged.

I reported it to the council and although it was not their responsibility they have forwarded it on to the owners. It was righted during the resurfacing of the road.

Seymour Road closure 20th to 28th July

Seymour Road will be closed for the dates above due to urgent drainage works. The closure will be all day and night.

Whilst Seymour Road is not in Podsmead, it does serve the ward via the number 10 bus. The bus will need to be diverted slightly whilst the work is carried out.

There will be no parking on the road at any time during the works.

Service 10 Diversion

Service 10 will need to divert as follows:

Service 10 towards Lower Tuffley
Instead of turning left at Kwik Fit onto Stroud Road, the bus will continue along Bristol Road. When it gets to the traffic lights at Lidl, it will turn left into Tuffley Avenue, where it will rejoin its normal route by continuing along Tuffley Avenue and turning right into Podsmead Road.

Service 10 towards Gloucester City Centre, Barnwood and Cheltenham

The service towards Gloucester City Centre, Barnwood and Cheltenham will serve the same diversion route but in the opposite direction.

Service 10 will serve all of the stops on the diverted route.

Selected libraries in Gloucestershire are to reopen for collection services from next week.

12 libraries in Gloucestershire will reopen for collection services from the week beginning 13th July. Other services remain suspended.

It was good to meet up with local police officers at the Club at Tuffley Park recently. They were out meeting the community and listening to concerns. More events are planned where we can attend together and I can offer advice on council issues.

At full council in July I asked the cabinet member for Culture and Leisure a question about the Blackbridge athletics track and sports hub development.

The management committee and users of the track would like accessible toilet facilities near to the track when the project is complete. I’m happy to report that the cabinet member agreed with me that this was a very reasonable request. I will be supporting the project in any way I can.

The drains along Tuffley Avenue were blocked with leaves so I asked for them to be cleared.

This work was done last week. I’m pleased with the results!
