There was good news this week as a cat missing from the Earls Park estate was found safe and well within 24 hours of going missing.
The posts on social media got lots of shares, and the community rallied round to help, which is really heartening.

I’m a big fan of the TrolleyWise app. It allows you to take photos and send reports of abandoned supermarket trolleys, with a location.
It’s good for the environment and it keeps costs down at the supermarket.
I reported this trolley using the app after Lisa Jevins alerted me to it, and it was cleared very promptly.
Do download the app and get finding those trolleys!
I’m very pleased that after speaking to the power company and getting this fly-tipping on Uphill Place reported, it was swiftly removed.
Fly-tipping on private land such as this is sometimes difficult to get cleared but in this case it has been a speedy operation.
After fly-tipping in the power distribution centre at Uphill Place, Podsmead Road was reported to me, I have been in touch with Western Power Distribution who have given me a reference number and told me that the fly-tipping will be cleared away in the next few days.
The company were grateful to me for bringing this to their attention.
I noticed the poor road surface and pavement at Eliot Close a couple of weeks ago when I was out delivering in the area, and I reported them to Gloucestershire Highways for action.
We need more investment in our roads in Podsmead.
A section of pavement outside the new development on Tuffley Crescent had been damaged by a water leak.
Severn Trent and Gloucestershire Highways have now fixed this patch between them. I hope the patch lasts.
I am pleased to see the bus shelter on Podsmead Road has been fixed so promptly.
I was in touch with officers from Gloucestershire Roads and Stagecoach and am grateful to them for carrying out the work.
Libraries reopening for collection from 20th July.
I’m pleased to hear that several more libraries across Gloucestershire are reopening (for collection only) from July 20th, including Gloucester City library on Brunswick Road and the Tuffley library, which is the nearest to Podsmead.
You can view the details on the Gloucestershire Libraries website here.
The bus shelter on Podsmead Road opposite the Crypt School has been damaged.
I have been in touch with county council officers and they have informed me it will be repaired on Friday 17th July.
I am glad that swift action is being taken.
Matson, Robinswood and White City Community Partnership and the Club at Tuffley Park are running The Holiday Kitchen from next week. It will be running from Monday to Friday in locations in Matson and Podsmead.
Families can have a free lunch and pick up craft materials for the holidays.
